Our Studio

Situated on the High Street, Wollaston, the photography studio was originally built in the late 1800s as a corn mill. In its lifetime it has seen many interesting businesses come and go, from antique dealers, to kitchen manufacturers to stained glass window makers and now finally as a photographic studio. The building has undergone sympathetic improvement and is a comfortable safe space, while maintaining much of its 19th century charm. Facilities include male and female bathrooms with space to change, circa 900 square feet of open plan studio space with make up bay, break out space and computer bay. When we are open for family portraits, there is a small, comfortable play area for younger children with large rugs and plenty of clean toys. We encourage children to play before we begin working to give them time to settle.. often the toys end up on set.

The space will comfortably accommodate fairly large groups, though because of the shape and set up of the building, it is not ideal to photograph groups larger than around 5 or 6 adults at any one time. Well behaved pets are welcome too – we use a white vinyl floor and wall area for photography, which simply wipes or mops clean after each session. You are welcome to come and have a look around whenever you like, but do call first as we only open the space for appointments. Given the age of the building, disabled access is limited, as the entrance at both ends is via stairways.

We also make the studio available to hire, either as unaided “dry” hire, or as an assisted / tutored space – there is a large basement where we store additional lighting modifiers, paper rolls and mobile equipment. Unassisted hire with lights is £20 / hour, assisted hire £40 / hour, tutored hire £60 / hour. For tutored hire, we can supply full creative teams and excellent independent and agency models by separate arrangement.
